How to wire the headlight and taillight on a rupp roadster 2?
Hey, I’ve got a 1971 rupp roadster 2 and it’s the one where it has a small alternator in the motor.
I’ve been wondering on how to wire the cables,
If you take off the pull start, you can see the cooling fan (i think) and if you take that off you can see what makes the electricity for the spark plug, and there is another part on the opposite side of that. And it has 3 (or 2) cables coming off. How do I wire them to the lights? Can someone give me a video/diagram on how to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
Get the engine numbers off shroud. I think they used a Tecumseh 5hp ‘sport’ engine -numbers would be something like HH5-?? – that had a DC current 8 to 10 amp output- red and yellow striped? Other possible engine Briggs & Stratton 19 to 25 code- 8 to 10 or 11 hp- that had 3 wires but had a alternating current light output same as some lawn tractors of the time. Model numbers on fan shroud- toward top front. You seem to have described the 2 coil- one spark, one lighting coil at outside of flywheel- so seems to be a MagnaPulse ignition instead of points, likely a alternating current light lead without a second 2 amp DC battery lead as you don’t have electric start.
