Hub Kit
BT HOME HUB – is it really necessary to set it up and use the software cd provided?
just received all the kit,cant help wondering whats on the cd…without actually installing it all,
Are there any advantages to using their software? and can it be manually set up?
will i have full access to the settings using a browser if i dont install their software?
you can easily check out the CD – put it in the drive and hold the “shift” key, or just say cancel when auto installation starts.
Then open “My Computer” right click on CD drive and click on “Open”.
If you have a hub, CD probably has manual in .pdf format on it.
If you have a router, it could have a setup program , but you can (almost) always setup the router by typing it’s IP address in your browser instead of “www.something.com”. Only exemption of this is when you don’t know the IP address – some types of network devices use a special protocol to communicate – so there is a dedicated software for setting-up.
